Een nieuw album van Iggy Pop met een sterbezetting. Op de meeste nummers speelt Chad Smith drums en Duff McKagan bas, maar er zijn ook bijdragen van Josh Klinghoffer, Dave Navarro, Stone Gossard, Travis Barker, Eric Avery, en op twee tracks Taylor Hawkins.
Every Loser is het negentiende studioalbum dat Iggy uitbrengt, echter is dit de eerste plaat die uitkomt als samenwerking tussen Atlantic Records en Gold Tooth Records. Dit nieuwe label is opgezet door producer Andrew Watts.
Hij werkte nauw samen met Iggy Pop aan dit album: "I'm the guy with no shirt who rocks; Andrew get that, we made a record together the old-fashioned way. The players are guys I've known since they were kids and the music will beat the shit out of you."
Dat geldt ook voor de teksten. Op Frenzy gaat het meteen loos:
Got a dick and two balls, that’s more than you all
My mind will be sick if I suffer the pricks
So shut up and love me, cause fun is my buddy
All the sharks in the sea are waiting on me
De plaat bevat 11 tracks die de punky, rock 'n roll versie van Iggy Pop laten zien, heel anders dan het vorige album Free, uit 2019, en ook anders dan de vele samenwerkingen die hij de laatste jaren uitbracht, zoals op de recente EP The Dictator met de Belgische elektronische artiest Catherine Graindorge.
We horen scheurende gitaren, lekkere licks en solofeatures van Josh Klinghoffer, Bowie-achtige wendingen in de vocals van Iggy Pop en superstrak drumwerk, vooral van Chad Smith dus, maar ook van Travis Barker en twee tracks met Taylor Hawkins, in een van de laatste studiosessies die hij deed.

Iggy Pop is onvermoeibaar. Met zijn 75 jaar gaat hij er bij concerten 100% tegenaan, zoals afgelopen juni nog in Utrecht. Vanaf half juni gaat hij de festivals af in Europa, vooralsnog niet in de Benelux, maar dat kan nog komen!
Iggy Pop staat bekend als 'The Godfather of Punk'. Hij begon zijn carrière dan ook al in 1967 met de band The Stooges, waarna hij in 1977 zijn solo carrière startte door samen met David Bowie de albums The Idiot en Lust For Life uit te brengen.
